The Watchung Police Department's Traffic Unit consists of two traffic officers, overseen by the Special Services Sergeant.
The traffic unit has several important responsibilities, including school traffic safety operations, investigating serious motor vehicle crashes, aggressively enforcing traffic violations, deploying traffic monitoring equipment, such as digital sign boards or speed signs, training other officers in RADAR, conducting Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspections, and assisting the Patrol Division during periods of high service call volume.
Residents of Watchung may schedule a Child Safety Seat Inspection with Officer Justin Bowman by appointment. He may be reached at 908-756-3663 x 120. NJ MVC will be at Watchung Police HQ for Mobile Inspection, subject to weather and availability, on: 4/22/24, 5/10/24, 6/3/24, 9/6/24, 10/7/24, & 11/8/24.
